Teens who start a new school year wearing braces can experience even more angst than adolescence typically causes. Invisalign Teen, however, can make their life far easier in many ways – and make parents thankful for this innovative orthodontic method, too.
1. You can’t see Invisalign Teen.
Just like traditional Invisalign, it’s nearly impossible to see the clear aligners of Invisalign Teen on someone’s teeth. Being able to straighten their teeth discreetly means self-conscious teens won’t feel any further scrutiny about their changing selves, at least in one area. Confidence is important and your teen will continue to develop theirs when their orthodontic journey is subtle.
2. Eating is easy.
Teens are notorious for their big appetites, but conventional dental braces can really get in the way of a full stomach. When their friends are enjoying popcorn or chewy treats in school, Invisalign Teen wearers won’t be restricted from participating too.
There is no eating or drinking anything but water when Invisalign is snapped in place, but your teen can easily remove their aligners for meals and snacks so they can still enjoy their favorite foods. Just make sure they keep their aligner case with them for safekeeping when Invisalign Teen is out of their mouth. For good measure, a handy travel toothbrush, toothpaste, and floss are a good idea too. Teeth should be as clean as possible before Invisalign is snapped back in place.
3. Invisalign Teen is comfortable.
Invisalign Teen fits snugly and exerts pressure on the teeth to move them where they need to go. While this may cause soreness at first, wearers get used to the feeling over time. What teens won’t have to adjust to, however, are brackets and wires. Invisalign is super-smooth, so there won’t be anything to irritate the cheeks, lips, and gums.
4. Selfies will be sweet.
Teens love their phones and Instagram and Snapchat and any technology that lets them communicate with their friends – and that includes the requisite taking and posting dozens of pictures of themselves. Sometimes a serious expression is appropriate, but smiles are an important part of hanging out with friends and recording the moments of junior high and high school. With Invisalign Teen in place, kids will be proud to smile for every photo as their teeth move slowly but steadily into alignment.
5. Teens are on a schedule.
Many parents worry that their teen might not be mature enough to handle the responsibilities that come along with wearing Invisalign. Back to school, however, is a great time to start. Serious schedules kick back into place and motivated teens will make the demands of Invisalign fit in alongside their other obligations.
