5 Reasons to Give Thanks for Invisalign

Philadelphia orthodontists thanks invisalignThere are plenty of reasons to be thankful for Invisalign. Whether you’re an existing patient or considering this orthodontic treatment, here are reminders about why Invisalign is popular, beloved, and successful in creating so many straight, beautiful smiles.

1. They are barely visible.

Invisalign’s claim to fame is that they are the braces no one can really see. If you don’t tell anyone you’re wearing Invisalign, there is a good chance they might not notice. The aligners are completely clear and fit so snugly against the teeth. Invisalign is incredibly discreet and won’t interfere with your performance at work or your social life. If you keep the aligners clean, they’ll stay clear and never get cloudy, keeping your secret for as long as you want.

2. No brackets and wires.

Wearers of conventional braces must live with brackets and wires on their teeth. These features work hard and get the job of aligning teeth done well, but they aren’t always a patient’s favorite. Braces can be uncomfortable, poking the sensitive skin of the gums, lips, and cheeks. Plus, they’re noticeable, even the clear ones. Invisalign trays are smooth and seamless. They’ll cause a little discomfort because they’re moving your teeth around, but they won’t torture the rest of your mouth with their presence.

3. They’re removable.

Removable braces. Braces that aren’t stuck permanently to your teeth until your orthodontist removes them. That’s something to be thankful for! When you don’t want to deal with your braces for a while, if you wear Invisalign you can simply take them out. You won’t want to leave the trays off of your teeth for too long, and the best time to enjoy your braces-free breaks is during mealtime, but you do have the freedom to give yourself a break when you need it.

4. Eat whatever you want.

Because Invisalign must be removed for all meals and snacks, there are no food restrictions attached to this orthodontic treatment. Invisalign will never get in the way of whatever food or drink you want to indulge in. Your only job as a devoted patient is to remove Invisalign before eating and drinking – the only thing you can have while trays are in your mouth is water – to ensure that you don’t damage or discolor the aligners.

5. Customized to your needs.

There is not just one kind of Invisalign. In fact, there are several versions of Invisalign, including Invisalign Full, Invisalign Lite, and Invisalign Teen. Some methods could lead to an even more efficient, affordable treatment than the traditional plan. Invisalign Express is for patients who have minor spacing or crowding issues, often because their old alignment issues have come back to bother them if they’ve neglected to wear their retainer. Instead of 20+ sets of aligners, you could be looking at only 5 to 10 sets.
