6 Reasons You Will Fall in Love with Your Braces

Braces don’t get a lot of love. In fact, they usually get a lot of complaints. What many orthodontic patients discover over time, though, is that there are plenty of reasons to love their braces.

1. They’re discreet.

Today’s braces don’t draw a lot of attention to themselves. Whether you wear practically invisible Invisalign or tooth-colored conventional braces, the orthodontics blend into your teeth and smile. Adults especially appreciate this perk of modern braces so they can go about their job and daily lives without feeling self-conscious about their braces.

2. You’ll have less pain.

If you’re someone who is aligning their smile for more than just cosmetic reasons, you will quickly come to realize just how amazing braces are for you. Certainly, there will be some discomfort as you get used to the newness on your teeth or undergo an adjustment or start wearing a new set of Invisalign trays, but an aligned smile will actually protect you from serious, long-lasting pain. TMJ problems, grinding and clenching your teeth, gum recession, enamel erosion, and broken teeth are all side effects of jaw problems that go unaddressed – but braces can save the day.

3. You’ll look better.

How can covering up your teeth with hardware possibly make you look better? The simple fact is – you just do. Sooner than you can imagine, you’ll start to see your teeth shifting into alignment. And other people will see beyond the braces too, noticing just how attractive your smile is shaping up to be. Noticing the progress that you’re making throughout your treatment will keep you on track and motivated.

4. They’re all yours.

Braces have this funny way of quickly becoming part of your persona. Just like a new haircut or even a tattoo, changing something physically about yourself can mentally alter how you see yourself – and, with braces, the result is often more positive than negative. You can make those braces your own, whether you proudly smile to show them off or accessorize them with colorful rubber bands. If you can’t beat ‘em, join ‘em, right?

5. Your teeth will be healthier.

When you are an orthodontic patient, you are required to clean your teeth more often. If you have Invisalign, it’s important to clean the aligners before you put them back in your mouth so bacteria and food particles don’t get trapped between teeth and trays. With conventional braces, you need special tools to get in and around all the nooks and crannies. But here’s the beautiful part – when your treatment is done and you have straight teeth, your oral health will be better than ever. Straight teeth are healthier teeth because they’re easier to clean and take care of.

6. Lifelong results.

As long as you wear your braces as your orthodontist requires, including wearing your retainer as instructed at the end of your treatment, you will have a straight, aligned, beautiful smile for a lifetime. A year or two of minor inconvenience for a permanently gorgeous smile? It’s a no-brainer.
